Rishikesh is a pleasant drive and what makes it more special is when you know you are heading to the hills, especially to the adventure sports' hub of Uttarakhand, Tehri. On the way, you can stop for breakfast at any of the refreshment zones. In about three hours, you will arrive in Rishikesh. The holy city is nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas and is also known as the yoga capital of the world. Apart from temples and ashrams, Rishikesh is also a popular white-water rafting centre, backpacker hang-out, and gateway to treks in the Himalayas.

On the way, around 25 kms from Rishikesh, you can halt at the popular Kunjapuri Temple in Narendar Nagar. A popular temple dedicated to Goddess Durga, it is one of the 52 Shakti Peethas in Uttarakhand. While devotees flock here throughout the year, the temple perched on the Kunjapuri peak offers a stunning view of the snow-capped ranges of the Himalayas like Swargarohini, Gangotri, Bandarpunch and Chaukhamba, and of the valley of the river Bhagirathi.
